BIF days 2014
Get personal. Be serious. Go Wild!
Now with additional offer: Because of the big interest in our BIF programme, we have added another workshop to give everyone the possiblity to take part in BIF. This offer includes all BIF elements such as Welcome Jam, access to shows and panel etc. The workshops consist of one workshop day on the topic of "Be serious", taught by Jill Farris from unexpected productions, Seattle/USA and two workshop days on the topic of "Film genres", taught by Lorenz Kabas from Theater im Bahnhof, Graz/Austria. It’s all about you. The focus of BIF week and BIF days in 2014 is you, the improviser. The core of our program is how to use your story more intensely for your acting than before, to develop deeper characters through sincerity and to allow free play to yourself. Thus, the program takes up the slogan of IMPRO 2014: say yes – to yourself.
At BIF days, you can choose one of the three offered workshops, at BIF week you don’t have to decide - here, all three workshops are included in the program. BIF week has a length of seven and BIF days a length of four days, both happen during IMPRO 2014 which runs March 21st to 30th. The BIF program offers improvisers from all over the world the opportunity to collect impressions, impulses and make new contacts at one of the biggest festivals of this kind. In mixing workshops, shows and specials like a panel, BIF reaches even more improvisers that gather in Berlin to network, improve their skills and last but not least have loads of fun!

Workshop: Get personal
Inbal Lori, Three Falling, Tel Aviv, Israel
Improvisers
invent themselves on stage; they are their own writers, actors and
directors. This is why improvisers need to know themselves. Each one of
us is a bank full of stories, memories, opinions and knowledge - this is
the best material we can work with. But how do we incorporate our
personal self into our scene or character? In “Get personal” we will
experience how to dig inside in order to bring great things out to the
stage. How to stay connected, believable and organic by using our
personal self.
Inbal Lori is a member of the Israeli Improv-Ensemble
“Three Falling” and has been successfully teaching at the Gorilla’s
improve-school. Inbal will be a member of the festival-ensemble for the
third time and will be showing her Solo-Show at the IMPRO.

Workshop: Be serious
Randy Dixon, unexpected productions, Seattle, USA
Improv
is generally known as a fast-paced, light theatre genre. Many of us,
who are improvising for a longer time, are searching for more depth in
their improvisation – something different from the easy and funny
scenes. Performing in serious, dramatic scenes is not only a challenge
for the player; it also goes against the expectation of the audience.
But if you can endure it, there's a great veracity emerging from the
power and suspense of serious scenes. And of course, true comedy always
has an earnest core.
Randy is co-founder and creative director of “unexpected productions“ from Seattle.
Randy
is one of the most experienced teachers for Improv-theatre worldwide
and influenced the creative development of the Gorillas. He is a regular
member of IMPRO.

Workshop: Go Wild!
Amber Nash and Kevin Gillese, Dad's Garage, Atlanta, USA
In
their "Go Wild" workshop, Amber Nash and Kevin Gillese will lead an
exploration of how to be completely unencumbered on stage. We've learned
all the rules, we may have even mastered them, now let's see what
happens when we break them! This is a workshop about saying no, not
using your environment, taking suggestions you never should take and
doing all the things that you're not supposed to. There's only one rule
that is sacred: have as much fun as you can. Using their combined 30+
years of improv experience as a guide, Kevin and Amber will ask the
question: which improv laws can be broken, and which ones can't? By the
end of the "Go Wild" workshop, you'll have your own answer.
Amber
Nash worked as improv performer, teacher and director at “Dad’s Garage”
in Atlanta for over 15 years and has been Education Director for over
five years. She played and taught all over North America, e.g. for
Second City and iO in Chicago.
Kevin Gillese had been creative
director for Rapid Fire Theatre (Edmonton/ Canada), before he moved to
Atlanta to work in the same position for Dad’s Garage. Kevin is probably
best-known for inventing and touring with his hit improv shows “Kill
the Dog” and “Scratch” all across Europe.
