BIF Week 2015:
Discover. Respect. Create

Improvisation is multifaceted and able to include a lot of different aspects of human interaction and expression. Everyone has their unique way of doing it, thinking about it, looking at it. The BIF programme 2014 pays tribute to this diversity and individuality by having our instructors teach what they believe is important - we asked them to bring in their favorite topics and workshops. Which means that this year, the workshop content in BIF days and BIF week won't be the same. The programme as a whole offers a well-rounded mix of physical, emotional and analytic approaches to improvisation, creating more options and focal points to choose from.

At BIF days, you can choose one of the three offered workshops, at BIF week you don’t have to decide - here, all three workshops are included in the program. BIF week has a length of seven and BIF days a length of four days, both happen during IMPRO 2015 which runs March 13th to 22nd.

The BIF program offers improvisers from all over the world the opportunity to collect impressions, impulses and make new contacts at one of the biggest festivals of this kind. In mixing workshops, shows, a panel and an Open Space, BIF reaches even more improvisers that gather in Berlin to network, improve their skills and last but not least have loads of fun!

There is not always “an empty space”: Using imaginary objects and building spaces on the stage is a body tool to give information and draw on audiences minds. What is going on? In this workshop we will train our ability to read what is happening around in all the possible labels. We let ourselves discover, more than create.

Beto Urrea is an actor with a focus on physical theatre, improv and clownesque techniques. He has been teaching improvisational theatre with the focus on physical play for a long time in cities all over the world. He was one of the players of the Colombian team at the theatresports world championship, fascinating the audience with their big power of imagination.

From being able to fully listen to your partner to being able to play the lowest/highest status in the scene, runs the thin cord of dignity and respect. In this workshop we will learn to create an enabling environment, motivated by lack of judgement, by recognition, trust, freedom and creative joy. This will lead you to perform the best, fun and creative impro ever.

Inbal Lori is a graduate of Jerusalem art high school 1994 and Nisan Nativ acting studio (2000). Since then she has been writing for television, theatre and films. These days she is giving many improv and acting workshops and she won "best performer" 2008 of the Israeli Fringe Festival for her one woman show.

Short or long, sad, sexy, scary or funny, stories are the heart and soul of what we do as improvisors. Let's find out how to tell them better. In this workshop, we'll take a look at how stories work, what's special about our way of telling them, and have a whole lot of fun doing it!

Jim Libby is one of the most experienced teachers for improv worldwide, not only when it comes to storytelling. Born in Maine, USA, he mixes the charme of a Viennese with the American style of narration and has inspired many students with his very personal and intense style of teaching.

All BIF week workshops are held in English. Basic skills in improvisation are necessary, preferably a minimum of two years of improv experience. Workshop space t.b.d.
The Open Space is the possibility for you to work on a special topic, spend your free time together or just to have a chat about an improv topic that fascinates you. There is a limit of 12 participants for the BIF week.
