Sounds, noises, music - each city has its special soundscape. Scenes and stories from the many international cities, the homes of our artists, are the focus of tonight. This show which is predominantly inspired by the musicians, has been a part of the festival several times before, and it is always a must-see. This year, festival musicians Danny Jaffé (Drama Light/Mannheim), Gilly Alfeo (Die Springmäuse/Bonn) and Rudy Redl (Die Gorillas) will "feed" sound files and instrumental music to the acting cast.

Leon Düvel (Die Gorillas) has been working intensively with the students of an improv class over several weeks - and the result is presented within the framework of the festival as The Format, for it is a brand-new improv format which the participants themselves have developed. We are as curious as the protagonists themselves...

Berlin's improv scene meets IMPRO 2015. In the first part of the show, the players compete for the leading role in the second part - they will present their favourite improv games, and the audience gets to choose one of the players. Then, the audience will give this player a new identity, and the star of the second half is born...

Scenes which are subject to certain rules (e.g. "ABC scene", where each phrase has to start with the next letter in the alphabet), are very popular with improv audiences all over the world. 10 players of the festival cast from 10 countries each present their favourite improv game, and a jury of audience members will decide the winner at the end of the show. A fast and furious rollercoaster ride through the international landscape of improv theatre – and the return of one of the festival highlights of 2014.

The Gorillas' cult show – and the Ratibor's slow burner for the past 18 years. Three directors (two Gorillas and one player of the festival ensemble) compete. They let the others play. They let them sing. They direct, plot and scheme. They dance themselves. They vie for your favour!

A popular long-running show of IMPRO - naturally, at the Improvision Song Contest the audience will determine what is sung and also which country gets most points for its song - its improvised song, naturally. Six singers from six countries will compete - with hip hop or blues songs, with arias or hard rock hymns, with chansons or songs in the style of ABBA. Who sings most beautifully? Whose lyrics are most poignant? Who touches the heart more than the others? And our twelve points go to...

When is a man a man? Herbert Groenemeyer once sang those words, and we provide the answer: here and tonight he is a full and proper man. Seven men from seven countries let it all hang out, vie for your favour, knock each other for six, and meet up for the improv testosterone summit. Brute, funny, full of energy - plugged, and poetically quiet only in dire emergencies.

No entrance, no exit. No-one will come in and no-one will leave. When space and time are limited, the actors, Lee White (Crumbs), Matthieu Loos (Combats Absurdes) and Marko Mayerl (inédit théâtre), have to develop the stories and questions from the characters and their relationships alone - and thus find a way out from their own inside. A touching, entertaining and at the same time wonderfully serious improvisation on the abysses of human relationships; with no cuts, no changes of scenery, and no looking ahead or back.

In all festival languages

Hardly any other art form lets the actors use their own life experience to directly impact what's happening on stage like improvised theatre does. Eight players from eight nations each get to draw one of the following subjects out of a hat: love, family, work, tradition, city, country, Christmas and food. As the directors, the players will examine their subject together with their fellow players and attempt to improvise and present what's characteristic for their country in respect to this subject.

A show on the explosive quality of language: Language divides or unites. Unlike any other art form, improv theatre breaks through language barriers in a playful way and creates connections and relationships. Tonight we will celebrate this art of communication: it's communication with and without language, with words from all over the world or words and sounds which are created in the moment. All senses are involved, ranging from silently sad to uproariously funny.
